Add the chimney to the right side of the roof over top of the second part of the house. Draw the door with a little platform below it (basically one step). Onto the first section of the house add the second along with it’s roof. It should be rectangular in shape with a roof that is angled on one side. You can think of it’s shape as a triangle stacked on top of a square.

For this San Francisco Victorian, Kelly Finley used Benjamin Moore Imperial Yellow to blend the garage and siding, and Bedford Blue to cover the stairs and front door. If you have a Spanish Mediterranean Revival home, revive the exterior with a shade of yellow that’s reminiscent of a sunrise. Paint any ornate details white to spotlight those special characteristics, as designer Maggie Cruz did for her Florida house. Give a charming exterior a modern update with various shades of gray paint mixed with natural materials. For House Beautiful’s fifth Whole Home, the exterior was painted using Mole's Breath and Purbeck Stone by Farrow & Ball.

Step 2 – Draw the First Section of the Roof

The fastest way to draw the outline is to use the 2D plan view of the planning software in combination with a grid of guide lines. This input method allows you to create the floor plans with the highest accuracy and enables you to work effectively and quickly. When drawing the outer walls, also consider their thickness. This is because external walls are usually much thicker than internal walls, as they fulfil load-bearing functions. We will show you step by step what you need to pay attention to when drawing your house and with which steps you can most easily create the floor plan and also the interior design of your house.

Below, view some of our favorite exterior paint colors for inspiration. Throughout his decades-long career, Craig Ellwood brought his indoor-outdoor living approach to several properties across Southern California, including his beachfront Hunt House in Malibu. The Zimmerman house, with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows and open floor plans, was designed early in her father’s career and wasn’t the best representation of his work, Ellwood said.

Windows add value to a property, including those in your drawings. You will use straight lines to draw the window frame and curved ones to craft the curtains. Pair bright versions of them as exterior house colors, and your home will exude a lively energy that’s simultaneously calming.

Begin with a basic rectangle for the structure, then add a triangle for the roof. Finish up with windows, a door, and a chimney to bring your house to life. This easy drawing can be a relaxing activity and a stepping stone to more complex projects. Our floor plan planner software offers many functions to quickly and easily capture the most diverse floor plans in an intuitive way. When creating the floor plan, it is best to start by drawing the outer walls. This will give you an outline of the building and an initial overview.

“I really feel like the dining room is a forgotten room,” says the designer, who set out to prove how vital the space is to a home. The room is anchored by a Riva 1920 table made with the wood of a 50,000-year-old Kauri tree, which Levine surrounded with seating for 12. Another seating area with views of the garden was designed for more intimate dining, games, or meetings, and it’s illuminated by a Murano glass chandelier. At the far end of the room, Levine installed a lush purple sofa with cocktail tables, creating the perfect spot for drinks, dessert, or relaxing with a cup of coffee. The Lovell House is reminiscent of Le Corbusier’s style and aesthetic. The stark while walls stand out among the wooded terrain; the ribbon windows offer expansive views and a significant amount of light to enter the interior spaces.

In this Park City, Utah, bathroom, an enormous round window and curved shower wall clad in chalky white Stone Source tile create the wow factor. At any time you can download or share designs with your team for input and feedback.

The entire space inside was then tanked and tiled, essentially creating a giant shower tray that keeps water completely contained. ‘When choosing colors and materials for small bathroom ideas and wet rooms, less is more. Here, we deliberately reduced the palette and created a streamlined design to really bring the focus to the materials,’ explains Katie Lion, interior designer, Kitesgrove. Patterned wall tiles or colorful accessories will also bring warmth and interest to the space. The odd house plant looks great in a wet room and will thrive well in the warm, humid environment. 'Accessorize the space with waterproof décor and plants, such as succulents, and even try adding a teak tray to lay across the tub.' Adds Shaut.

Walk This Way: Expert Advice on 3 Top Options in Flooring

The walls of the wet room feature vertical stacked subway tiles in the color seashell to create a sense of depth and texture while keeping the space light and airy. You can clean the flooring with a mild floor cleaner and a rubber-bladed mop. Start on the far end of the room and push water toward the shower drain.

Renovate to live, Sweeten to thrive!

A soothing palette of creams and tans contributes to the spa-like feel, as well as modern fixtures for the tub and shower. The renovators chose wood-look tile flooring that’s also waterproof and a vanity with natural wood doors for cohesion. In the wet-room, a pebble-effect floor helps prevent slipping and creates a sense of separation between the spaces. Saying that, a wet room can add 20% more value to your home compared to a regular bathroom reno. Depending on specifications chosen and the size of your space, budget around £7,000 for a basic design and up to £40,000 or more for a large or luxurious wet room in the UK. Measure the space, choose a layout and decide on fixtures and design elements.

Be aware that just like with any bathroom, a wet room could eventually spring a leak and require maintenance. Instead of trying to crowd a tub or stand-up shower into a tiny space, a wet room bathroom’s footprint does double duty, as a shower space when you’re showering and everything else when you’re not. This wet room set-up by interior designer Katie McCrum of McCrum Studio is another way you could look to divide up a bathroom for a more contained wet zone. When it comes to choosing bathroom tile ideas, mosaic tiles have a lot to offer. There are some practicalities to consider as part of your wet room design too.

Minimalist Bathroom Ideas That Aren’t All White Everything

People are often torn between lovely walk in shower ideas and wet rooms, but both come with different pros and cons. Magicplan is a solid option for professionals who need to quickly create floor plans and basic designs on-site. Its mobile compatibility and integrated cost tools make it a practical choice for contractors and real estate professionals who often create quick estimates for basic projects (like bathroom flooring)..

A wood look can offer a holistic spa bathroom experience, but you'll need to ensure any timber is treated so that it's suitable for a wet area. Just make sure they have a non-slip treatment and are comfortable to sit on. You can create a more impressive shower room design in an average-sized bathroom simply by removing the bath and freeing up the space needed for a walk-in shower. For instance, if you have a loft space, consider installing a wet room here. Wet rooms have become an increasingly popular choice for shower-lovers because they are the perfect solution for small bathrooms when you don’t have the space for both a bath tub and a separate shower.

The bathroom, located within the original existing space, feels open and inviting, with plenty of natural light streaming in. Walls in regular bathrooms can be difficult to clean, especially when they’re made of drywall or plaster. Designing a more efficient bathroom often means taking down barriers and smoothing traffic flow. Can opening the shower to the rest of the room create a more efficient, luxurious-feeling space? Even though wet rooms can still have bathtubs, they usually are only in larger wet rooms and are separate from the shower.

Robust ventilation is important to discourage condensation on ceilings and walls, which can lead to mold and mildew. A vent fan in a wet area must be wet-rated and installed with GFCI protection; a sound level of 1 sone or less will keep the peace. Choose a fan that will move air at a rate of 1 cubic foot per minute (cfm) for each square foot of floor space (so, 80 cfm for an 8-by-10-foot room); add 20 percent if your ceilings are over 8 feet.

Space for a wall drain (p. 64) will have to be accounted for at the base of a shower wall. To start, the floor should be square and level to facilitate drainage and minimize settling, and have sufficient structural strength—a wet room can be significantly heavier than a traditional bath. If possible, place shower controls outside the splash zone, so you can run the water without getting soaked.

They are super bulky, and without a lot of floor real estate, they can take up a lot of precious space. Jenkins recommends trying baskets for storing slim shoes like sandals. Take advantage of the many accessories available, such as see-through wire bins, acrylic- or glass-fronted drawers, drawers with dividers, and belt and tie racks, to keep items organized. Shelves (and drawers that are part of shop-fabricated cabinets) should be adjustable and movable from place to place within the closet for maximum versatility. If you're nervous about incorporating bold paint colors in your main living spaces, experiment in the closet. Here, designer Erin Myers chooses a bright blue and adds glamorous gold hardware. To maximize function, Rebel Builders turns a spare space with a pitched roof into a walk-in closet.

Install Glass-Front Doors

In this small closet design by Meredith Owens Interiors, you can see the clothing is all within the same color family, while outfit variety is added through the shoes. A hanging, adjustable shelving unit is another way to leverage the vertical space on your doors. Here, Katrina Teeple, founder of Operation Organization, uses a hanging system on one door and a hanging shoe rack on the other. If you’ve run out of floor and shelf space, consider a shoe rack that hangs over the door. These handy racks are typically made of plastic or canvas and can hold anywhere from 10 to 36 pairs of shoes.

Open shelves and racks in your closet will allow you to see everything at once, but because you have room to space your pieces out, the room won't look cluttered. Group pieces together by colors and moods to create a boutique vibe, then spend your morning coffee time sitting and letting your room inspire you. Treat your walk-in closet as an extension of your bedroom design, even if it's small, narrow or awkwardly shaped (like an attic). Here, explore thoughtfully-designed closet layouts, from modern setups complete with center islands to simple spaces and compact rooms with floor-to-ceiling storage. Before you get started, consider these tips for designing an organized closet, courtesy of Desiree Washington, owner of Designs by Des.

If you want to save your project and request a free design review, you will need to create an account. Luxuries, like a sputnik chandelier, will turn your walk-in closet into a place you adore using. To elevate the style, Organize Dwell displays a stunning collection of high heels. Make your morning routine a breeze by designing a full dressing room, just as Designs by Des does in this spacious area. Nestled under the window, a white desk serves as the perfect makeup station. Turn your walk-in closet into a in-home oasis and snag moments of respite in a nook filled with plush pillows.

Blakey says some of her best closet transformations relied on a few extra shelves. If you need more vertical space for stacked items or bins, consider heading to the hardware store and picking up a few shelves. But, finding a place for everything can be difficult when you have a small closet. While we would all love to have a ton of storage space, the good news is that even the smallest closets can be incredibly functional with the right organizational system. While teeny-tiny closets may not have room for a rotating shoe rack, small to medium closets can take advantage of this organizational wonder. Interior designer Ashley DeLapp leveraged one in this client's closet, which instantly increased shoe storage.

Swapping out the generic hardware for “HD,” or heavy-duty hardware, limits the problems and is well worth the cost in the long run. Good closet lighting ideas are essential, especially in small bedrooms. The key to a well lit closet – or wardrobe – is to introduce multiple layers that integrate both ambient, decorative and task lighting seamlessly.

An extra rod can help you create a capsule wardrobe or lay out clothes for the next morning to save you time when you're rushing around before work. "Matching slimline velvet hangers maximize your space on a closet rod, which, in a small closet, can make a huge difference in how much you can fit in there," she says. "Take measurements and start shopping for an insert that works best for your space," says interior designer Chantelle Hartman Malarkey. "Try to go floor-to-ceiling with it, too. If it doesn’t reach the ceiling, no worries. There are many ways to utilize that top space without structure." That said, there are countless ways you can transform a small closet into a highly functional space that beautifully houses all your belongings.

I’m sure this one is created by some Japanese engineer because it saves so much space but still convenient for life. Having seen this house, I found out that narrowing down the width and extend the length is one good method to design a tiny home. I don’t think anyone can find this house if there is not a tiled way leading to it. Barbie Dollhouses & Playsets Mattel

It took a few months of digging through listings before she came across a rental in Los Angeles with Old Hollywood bones. “I wanted to make this life-size dollhouse that embodied how your imagination is carefree when you’re a kid,” she adds. The Barbie dollhouse opens to reveal so many play spaces and double-the-fun features. Kids can make the 2-story, 2-foot wide dollhouse their own with more than 25 pieces to decorate its 6 rooms – transformation elements bring even more possibilities into the playset. The living room transforms into an entertainment room, the shower becomes vanity and the ceiling becomes a bunk bed to make room for 4 Barbie sisters to sleep. “With panoramic ocean views and beachy, glamorous decor, the home is a larger-than-life recreation of Barbie’s signature style and hospitality,” added Airbnb.

Hanging inside a massive walk-in closet are Barbie-style clothes – including several uniforms that catalog her fashions over the last 60 years. Styles include white cat-eye sunglasses, an astronaut suit, a striped bathing suit, and lots of high heels. Before Dahl even found her Dahl House, she started searching high and low at estate sales for pink lacquer nightstands.

Outside, the pool can be filled with water to make a splash while colorful "lights" hang from the patio. Fun pieces encourage imaginations and role-play, like cookware, place settings, a blanket and a plant. Some pieces have handles a doll can hold, and others are designed with a plug-and-play system for stay-in-place play and easy clean-up!

A Complete Guide to the Venice Beach Canals in Los Angeles

schaefer's canal house

Lively and fun but also quiet and calm at night. Good food & drink, with easy access. We docked right along-side parallel to the canal.

Does your business rank among the best in California?

We never encountered such a helpful friendly and funny dockside assistance Restaurant was very good along with the staff. And fun watching all the canal traffic. While Schaefer's Canal House is an awesome marina, they also have an amazing bar and restaurant attached to it that second to none.

Plan Your Trip

The staff was incredibly helpful when docking and getting advice on transiting the canal and out the the Delaware Bay. The restaurant is very good and the area is clean and well maintained. The current can be strong going into the fuel dock, so make sure when docking you approach against the current and have staff help grab your lines. Dockmaster was very helpful in getting us set-up at the dock and providing information on currents and departure times for the rest of the journey back through the Chesapeake Bay. Nice location with the restaurant and the dockmaster hours were very convenient for our 5p arrival. Only suggestion is to add showers to the facility.

Late-night food,

Schaefer's Canal House is a hidden gem along the Northern Shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Located in Chesapeake City, MD, the deep-water marina is nestled on Back Creek, which branches off of the Elk River. The facility has undergone some fantastic rehabilitations to both the dock area as well as the main house.

Comfort food,

schaefer's canal house

The development opened to much fanfare on July 4, 1905. Red Cars (trolleys) transported people from downtown to the beach. Current and pilings made for a rough night. The restaurant was lively and the food was good. As to the accommodations there is a substantial amount of current through the marina and the tidal change is roughly 3’. With the marina only offering pilings that makes it tough to position bumpers for cushioning as the shifting current bounces the boat around.

Explore Maryland

Enjoyed the bike trail and restaurant accommodations. Dock crew were very accommodating. The docks and power were very new and more than adequate.

Venice Canals in Los Angeles: The Complete Guide

schaefer's canal house

Dual pumps made fueling easy and fast. Nice discount for large quantity of fuel. Great line handling from the dock hands. Moved tp the bulkhead for the overnight stay.

Dock guy, Steve, carefully made sure we were tied with long spring lines to handle the tide. By the 1950s, Venice had become known as the "slum by the sea." The canals were in a state of disrepair, and the area was considered undesirable. It wasn't until the 1990s that the city funded a restoration project.

Easy access to water hose and electric hookup. The only draw-back is that there are no showers. Even a cold water outside rinse off shower would have been nice. Nice folks running the docks (inc their staff).

We overnighted on the face dock which are fixed-3 foot tide. Good basic marina with a really good restaurant. If you are picky the noise from vehicles on the bridge might bother you.

A good starting point is at the corner of Washington and Strongs Drive, where a sign marks the enclave’s entrance. There are no official boat rentals, but there is a public boat launch open from 9 am to 6 pm for non-motorized watercraft. Steve and his team provide an excellent experience. The location is great and we got to see the swapping of pilots on a vehicle carrier ship right from our boat. Good spot for waiting on the current and getting a great meal at the restaurant.

I recommend using this marina when passing thru the C & D Canal. The marina staff were excellent in all phases, approach and tie up was easy, and everyone respected the no wake zone so there was minimal rocking. The Venice Canals were built in 1905 by Abbot Kinney, a developer who wanted to create a replica of Venice, Italy, in California. Kinney's vision was to create a network of canals, complete with gondolas, bridges, and beautiful houses. They were designed to drain the marshes and wetlands that existed in the area. After traveling from the East Coast to San Francisco, Kinney found his way to what is now known as Venice Beach, California.

Good dinner at the restaurant. Restaurant is good and convenient. Currents not a significant issue when taken bow first.

Restaurant next to dock was excellent. Not sure if there was a 'go fast' boat convention in town, but the exhaust noise from noon 'til dark was really ridiculous. Lively place with live music over the weekend.

At the end of the block, carefully jaywalk across Pacific Avenue. Follow the path on the other side of the street past the very large, very modern, high tech house with big windows for a few yards until you reach the first of six canals. Your best option in this neighborhood is the centrally located Hotel Erwin. With its funky décor, rooftop lounge and ocean views, this property puts you right in the thick of it all and is within walking distance of the canals. You can also score a package with surf lessons. Venice Beach Walking Tours offers organized strolls, but the area is easily self-guided.

The Complete Guide To Mastering Boho Style In Your Interior Design

Throws with geometric patterns or ethnic motifs drape easily over couches and chairs, inviting one to relax and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The Scandinavian approach to decor values simplicity and functionality. Decorative accessories in this theme are often focused on minimalistic design and neutral palettes. Ceramic vases with folk patterns or artisanal glassware will be a conversation starter. They’ll also show your appreciation and love of handmade and unique items.

Chic Bohemian Living Room

Add a bench at the end of the bed (like this Better Homes & Gardens Cream Upholstered Bench, $99, Walmart) to complete the look. The middle column represents the commonality of the two interior design styles. Aside from furniture with clean lines and organic shapes, there will be layered lighting, texture, and greenery. Boho home decor can feel hard to pull off, but it often looks best when you take the pressure off and just lean into what feels most personally compelling. After all the style prioritizes worn, comfortable interiors that speak more to the life of the individual dweller than to any particular rule book.

What Are the Key Elements of Bohemian Design?

boho style design

The look typically involves an eclectic mix of natural elements and many colors, patterns, and textures. One of the key aspects of boho design is the mixing and matching of different colors and patterns. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different combinations to find something that works for you. You can also incorporate metallic accents, such as gold or copper, to add a touch of glamour to your space.

Can boho style work in small spaces?

One way to bring out your inner bohemian is to collect vintage pieces from flea markets and thrift stores, or online at sites like eBay and Etsy. Buying used items not only makes boho decor more affordable than many other popular styles, but also better for the environment—which is in keeping with the spirit of the aesthetic. Furthermore, secondhand shopping ensures that the pieces in your home are entirely unique. Natural, basic materials like burlap and sisal can be combined with silk and chenille in a boho-style room.

Bohemian Decorative Items

This style is perfect for those who want to create a peaceful and calming space. An element that truly completes a boho-style home is a curated finishing touch. Wall art and accessories add a final layer of visual interest and allow you to surround yourself with unique items that you love. Find artwork that fits with your style and interests online, or look for secondhand options in thrift stores and antique shops. Opt for handmade accessories such as this macrame wall hanging available at Etsy in unusual colors, textures, and shapes to act as conversation pieces in any space. Look into local shops in your area selling ethically sourced, handmade wares from around the world to achieve the boho style’s global look.

Use empty wall space by transforming it into a handy cocktail-serving spot. In keeping with boho style, look for a bar cart made of rattan or wood instead of glass or metal. A graphic red-and-white rug, potted plants, and an upholstered chair define this living space.

Important Things to Know About Scandinavian Design

This style stands out for its mix of vibrant colors, varied patterns, and rich textures, creating inviting and expressive spaces. Most every space is filled to help create a room that's saturated in color and pattern, feels cozy and inviting, and contains plenty of items that have some sort of value to you and tell a story. "What I love about boho design is that anything can work—there is no 'should,'" Blakeney says. Incorporating bohemian style into your home doesn’t mean starting over.

Add Moroccan Style

Karen Vidal didn't want a cold, angular bathroom for a California home, so she warmed up the suite with colorful cement tiles and a cozy seating nook. With a tendency towards being eclectic, bohemian design can also have a chic and glam side. The only rule is that every item in the room should tell a tale. Combine boho with modern or rustic elements while maintaining a cohesive color scheme and texture balance.

Creating Your Own Boho Space

boho style design

Bohemian interiors often feature eclectic collections of art, books, and other decorative items. There is no defining color palette for bohemian style interiors, which can range from earth colors to jewel tones to more modern neutral palettes. Feel free to mix and match colors, patterns, and textures to create your own interpretation of boho style.

Pair them with bright colors and geometric patterns for a maximalist look. Additionally, vintage and handmade items add a touch of authenticity and uniqueness to your space. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different textures, patterns, and colors. Boho spaces are all about telling a story, so each piece should have a unique and interesting history.

Stripes, florals, geometrics, and ethnic prints can all coexist harmoniously in a boho space. The trick is to find a common color palette that ties these different patterns together, ensuring the space feels cohesive rather than chaotic. Pieces are usually eclectic and may range from vintage finds to modern but quirky designs. The focus is on creating a relaxed and comfortable environment, so low-lying furniture like daybeds, chaises, and poufs are common.

Savannah Sher started writing for BobVila.com in 2020 and has worked as a content writer since 2016. She specializes in home and gardening but also covers lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and pop culture for other publications. Your Boho Nordic living room will be a canvas of your story told through unique pieces, cherished collections, and vibrant greenery. The materials used in Scandi Boho furniture should reflect a love of nature with organic and sustainable styling. In Scandi Boho design, natural light is often the focal point of the room. Spaces are designed to maximize daylight hours, with large windows left bare or decorated with sheer, light-filtering curtains.

If you love many different styles, focus your decor on a single color. Many elements in this bedroom (the canopy drapes, quilt, pillows, and artwork) feature strong and varied patterns. The combination works well because they all predominantly feature the same shade of hot pink.

Marina staff is very knowledgeable on currents and did a great job of securing the boat for an overnight stay. Will be using the Marina on my return trip. According to legend and a KCET documentary, Kinney wound up in Los Angeles on his way back from a business trip to Asia and had the best sleep of his life in a local hotel. This convinced him to move west.

Although we were tied on the river face dock we had no wake issues all night. Very helpful & professional, well versed in the challenges of their current. Excellent hours for transients if trying to stretch your day. Nice casual restaurant on site. Staff was great - and knowledgeable of local conditions and setting lines for the 3+ foot tide swings.

Does Schaefer's Canal House have a kids menu?

The staff was super friendly and helpful and really went out of their way for us. The restaurant was great and you are a short dinghy ride to town on the other side of the canal. Because it is a fixed dock, it can be tricky getting on and off the boat at low tide but the staff really does go out of their way to make it as easy as possible. No showers, laundry or grocery nearby.

Dinner reservations recommended,

Enjoyed our dinner so much we decided to go back for Sunday brunch. Free docks on opposite shore were silted in. One is exposed to canal but very little canal traffic. Tied-up just east of bridge but never noticed bridge noise above our heater-fans noise.

Wheelchair accessible seating,

Dock hands were great and very helpful. Also a great walking and bike path if you're looking for a place to stretch your legs. A very convenient stop along the way. The person that helped us dock was excellent! Very helpful tie up assistance. The owner and his son were polite and the facility was a perfect stopover.

The water quality is now maintained through twice-weekly natural tidal flushing cycles. Occasionally, seals and leopard sharks venture in through open tidal gates. By 1920, more visitors were arriving by car, parking was scarce, and the area had been constructed for walkers not wheels. Homeowners fought back and litigation lasted for four years. In the end, the California Supreme Court sided with Venice, which had by then consolidated with the city of LA. LA went ahead with the plan and the canals became paved roads (now known as Market, Main, San Juan, Grand and Windward) and the lagoon became a traffic circle by the end of 1929.

Venice Canals

We really enjoyed the bar and restaurant. I would definitely stay there again. Be aware there are no showers or local stores.

Our vessel is definately in good hands with Dockmaster Tom & Manager Steven Connell. They are able to run this top notch facility because of the knowledgable & friendly deckhands. (Olivia Marro, Leah Stubbs, Scott Seisler) Schaefer's is without question your #1 way point when transiting the C&D Canal. Nice people and the dock hands do a great job.

It’s the definition of dinner with a view. Because of the popularity of the Venice Beach canals, copycats soon sprang up south of Kinney’s development. From the Venice Fishing Pier, walk north on Speedway Street and turn right on 27th Avenue.

Those would be welcome additions that could lead to longer stays. Dealing with the currents in the canal and the huge concrete Chesapeake City Bridge support in the middle of the dock can be quite a challenge. And many a loud speed boat takes advantage of the good fuel prices here. But the people are friendly and the area peaceful, with the restaurant offering decent food and beverage options.

These channels are the only ones that remain liquid today. Nice location and great staff. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Strong currents can be expected.

Very friendly and competent Dock Master, Steve, guided us right into fuel dock and then around to out spot on the bulkhead. Despite passing ships, there was very little rocking from wakes. Restaurant was good and steps from the boat.

Piraeus Cruise Port and Terminal Information

Travel Interests

Most of the visiting liners are seasonally deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean and homeported in Greece or Italy. Talks also centered on reception facilities, upgrading of passenger terminals and COSCO's planned LNG cruise ship refueling facility. It’s normal for a cruise line to arrange a one-day stop at Piraeus although some ships dock overnight. Most cruise ships tend to arrive in the early hours of the morning and then leave late in the evening. Cruisers planning to disembark or embark in Piraeus, should consider staying overnight before or after the cruise. If you have been in Athens repeatedly and your cruise ship is calling at Piraeus port for the day, keep in mind that some of these sites are offered on shore excursions.

Terminal A Facilities

This terminal is the furthest one from the city and consists of 2 long quays able to accommodate mega cruise ships (4.500+ passengers). The terminal building is situated across Quay Themistocles and is primarily used for turnarounds (for passengers embarking and disembarking in Piraeus). Port's main terminals for cruise ships are Terminal A and Terminal B. Their berths (a total of 11) are on the southern quays.

piraeus cruise port

Public Transportation to the Port of Piraeus

piraeus cruise port

There are also plenty of taxis in Athens should you prefer, but the travel time of your taxi ride may vary due to traffic. Not to mention that the taxi fare from Piraeus ferry port is much steeper in price than that of a metro ticket. During the summer months, an express tourist bus (X80) runs directly from Athens center to the cruise terminal at Piraeus port. The terminal building consists of facilities including an arrivals/departure hall, customs office, immigration, police, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, public phones, and a duty-free shop.

Taxis Or Private Transfer

Taking a taxi to Syntagma Square from Piraeus should be around €20-25 per cab (not per person). You will need to negotiate the rate in advance with the driver but most drivers waiting at the port will be looking to take passengers on an all day tour. If you've decided to walk all the way, you can buy your ticket at self serve machines at the station when you enter but staffed service counters are to your right. If you plan on doing more than three trips, it is more economical to buy a day pass (€4.50, Mar 2019, not available at newsstands). You will probably get off at Monastiraki, Syntagma, or Akropoli station (last two require changing lines).

The most convenient way is to take the metro, as Line 1 connects Athens city center with Piraeus. Piraeus is the main port of Athens and the most important in Greece. Athens, the capital of Greece, is located just over 30 minutes from the port. Its Acropolis and the Parthenon are the main attractions of the city. If you can add a day or two to Athens, you’ll have plenty of time to appreciate all its attractions.

It’s also about a five-minute walk from where your cruise ship docks (if that’s the pier you arrive on). A luxurious and stylish 4-star hotel right on the port of Piraeus, just 20 meters from the new metro and train station. Ideal for ferry travelers and explorers alike, guests can savor culinary delights at the hotel's restaurant-bar and explore nearby shops and eateries. Business travelers will appreciate the meeting room, while leisure travelers will love the proximity to Votsalakia Beach, just 2.1 km away. There are a total of 12 departure and arrival gates in the Port of Piraeus; ferries to the Greek islands depart from gates E1 to E10, and cruise terminals are located at E11 and E12.

Eight Hours in Athens

At the cruise terminal building itself there is free, but slow WiFi. There are also a few internet terminals at the cafe inside the cruise terminal. Cruise travelers visiting Athens should not miss the rare opportunity to walk by and around some of the most characteristic streets, squares, and neighborhoods of the historic capital city. Piraeus (Athens) is also a homeport (embarking and/or disembarking passengers).

Silversea expands pricing structure to offer more options

There are several transit options you can choose from to get from Athens International Airport to the Piraeus Greece Port. The Roman Forum, also known as the Roman Agora of Athens, was built as the city’s main marketplace and was constructed with funds from Julius Ceasar and Augustus. Enjoying fresh Greek food in Piraeus is not only a way to enjoy tasty dishes with beautiful views but you are also able to mingle with the locals and experience Greek culture in the process. It originally began during the Neolithic period as a military base due to its excellent position above the city of Athens with the ability to see fantastic visibility of the surrounding land and sea. Later in 2009, the Greek government leased land to China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO).

If it is closed, the passengers from cruise terminal B are transferred to cruise terminal B by a shuttle bus. Next to the seaport is located Piraeus Train Station, which has two buildings - one is the terminus of Athens Metro Line 1, the other - the terminus for standard trains. Inside Port Piraeus run complimentary bus shuttles - from Metro Line 1 Station to the passenger terminal serving ships going to Crete Island, and the Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea. A 24-7 direct Port-Airport Express bus operates between Port Piraeus and Athens Airport. This ancient Athenian port is worth exploring if you’ve already been to Athens and/or just want to stay closer to your ship.

First departure is at 8 am and they should depart every 30 minutes. If you’re at the train station for a visit, you might want to consider adding on a stop at the Electric Railways Museum of Piraeus.. For a glimpse into Piraeus’ yesteryear head to the remains of the stone gates and walls that were used to guard the city in ancient times.. The cruise terminal has free wifi but you will be competing with crew for limited connections and bandwidth. Nestled in the Saronic Gulf in the southeast of Greece, the port of Piraeus is the gateway to the ancient city of Athens, the capital of Greece and the birthplace of democracy.

There you can jump on one of the hop-on, hop-off bus tours or stay a while and watch the changing of the guard. Piraeus Metro station / train station is about a 20 minutes walk from terminal A. Most likely you’ll have to walk because the drivers get a bit stroppy if you ask them to take you just a short distance from the port. Cruise terminal A is the closest to the ferry port but still about a 20 minute walk to Piraeus Metro station.

The Municipal Theatre is a large neoclassical building that houses a variety of productions. It houses some interesting historical exhibits that are worth a look. This is the largest marine museum in Greece and great if you’re a maritime enthusiast.

Visiting a train station might not sound like a very exciting way to spend your vacation, but the architecture of the Piraeus.. History buffs are in for a treat with the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, located in a two-level building in the center of the site.. Because Piraeus is on the waterfront, the cafes and restaurants in the city offer some of the freshest and tastiest seafood in the world.. From the Metro, transfer at Faliro station to the tram line 2 and get off at Zephyros stop. Alimos Beach is the closest to the city (11 km) and the busiest.

Unless your ship docks at the Terminal A, most attractions in the port city of Piraeus are not within walking distance. Cruise passengers traveling with families will not discover many sites or attractions that may interest most children. Cruise travelers with disabilities will find it difficult to explore the memorable highlights of Athens on their own, and a carefully chosen shore excursion is advisable.

In case you are coming on a cruise to Athens, you should come earlier to explore the wonderful sites and attractions this city has to offer. Between Xaveris and Mioulis docks, at the harbor’s middle is located cruise terminal Miaoulis (A). It is situated into the Termistokleous breakwater but is not open so often.

Fourteen days is a really long cruise. I know it is a bitter pill, but you might be better off just losing the 600 pounds and booking a much cheaper one-week cruise. Your mistake is that you failed to calculate the actual cost of the cruise. I always add in the cost of the Plus package, because you can't cruise without it unless you are a teetotaler and hate wifi. Do note that aside from the Plus package, I spend almost nothing on the ship.

Ordered drinks then got asked three more times by different people. First, you have to pay a higher rate in order to tuck it on, and then it costs money on top of that. You are lying to yourself if you think it's free. We don't get any packages, and we always have a wonderful carefree pretty much AI experience for the entire family. You don't need wifi or alcohol on a cruise. You may want them, but you don't need them.

The Crown Princess Ship Offers Good Entertainment Options

The experience feels common for the most part. For the rest of the parts, there is separation. From inside cabins all the way to suites, there is a difference of experience. The same goes for packages like Plus and Premier or being a first time passenger with no status versus the seasoned Elite member. Crown Princess Alaska sailings are hugely popular among those seeking a somewhat less over-the-top experience as that offered by larger cruise ships. The vessel has a lot going for it, including great deck layouts, tons of dining options, and itineraries that include Glacier Bay.

Find your Grand Princess Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below. @CruiseLibre As others have mentioned, you should cancel your cruise and move on. Above all, traveling is for having fun and making memories for yourself and love ones you share the time with. Princess — nor any other cruise line out there — is going to have a business model where they aren’t upselling and trying to maximize revenue. Princess have moved the goal posts recently because not enough people were buying Plus or Premier by adding charges for things previously included.

Included with your cruise fare:

Basic research  uncovers the costs are  base fare, optional service charge(£13) and the two optional packages(£50,£65) that include the £13 service. Find a vacation where you have more control of what you spend on everything. Where you can skip the things you don’t care about and only pay for what you want. Good people work for every one of the cruise lines.

I don’t like going through 100 other threads for information. Not sure why the other thread was locked but starting a new one for general discussion about this brand new ship. Live threads are great but are only one person’s perspective and not a place to be having lots of questions and discussions that detract from their experience. In the US Princess has fully refundable deposits most of the time.

There is always enjoyable nightly live music, but some of the main theater evening shows got mixed reviews. When we weren't listening to music, a movie under the stars was always a great way to spend the evening. Yes you could take one bottle of wine per person on the ship. The same questions seem to come up when the same or similar thread is only 3 pages old or older. Crown grill last night was good but the service was a circus show of waiters tripping over each other to help.

You could try to invoke package regulation as a major change but unlikely for 1 port to sea day on a 14n cruise unless that port was a major selling point for the ruise.. Many, many people go in cruises every year and don’t buy anything more than the basic travel and they have a wonderful time. They aren’t worried about what other people on the ship get that they don’t get. Plenty of people do it on the cheap, don't drink and stick to the included offers you won't feel out of place and not fitting in. Plenty of included food so all the paid options are optional. I would recommend canceling as I think your attitude isn’t likely to improve.

Where does Crown Princess sail from?

It was quite inexpensive and we paid an extra $5 each to be able to take a later coach should our plane be delayed. We are arriving a couple of days in advance, so the Princess transfer was not an option, but it seems the National Express is cheaper than their transfer. Cruising can often be pretty cheap if you want it to be but you have to work at making it cheap. It can be very easy to let the dollars mount as you upgrade cabins, buy packages, add excursions etc. However, sister ship Discovery Princess, which debuted in 2022, has drawn much praise, too.

Personally, I don't eat at the specialty restaurants, have my alcoholic drinks at bars while in port, and book my shore excursions independently. The "Just get the Plus package" advice pushes the costs to £7k, not a small figure for any family and especially during a cost of living crisis, and that's before shore excursions or anything else. I just can't wrap my head about how much do you actually need to spend before it actually feels like a care free all-inclusive experience, which it certainly doesn't feel like it at the moment, it's like there's a toll booth at every turn. The complaint you and many others have with cruising is the community. Community is what makes cruising unique and fun for so many people.

Casino hit or miss but have seen jackpots. Hard to find $5 crap table these days. It is possible to cruise base fare only and still have  good time and not give Princess a penny more.. We rarely go on ship excursions and only go to the speciality restaurants with OBC (on board credit). Small compensation, but when a ship drops a port, you are refunded port fees.

J&J just posted an hour long tour of the ship. The loungers next to the pool at the sanctuary now are setup with nice cushions. There is a Walgreens/Publix close to the port if you are flying in. That helps with spending for sure and for me that means no pxg is necessary.

We will be taking the train from Southampton to Paris after the cruise and our TA has advised we will need to make 2-3 transfers between Southampton and London and then a straight shot from London to Paris. I posted in the old Sun Princess thread about a bid to upgrade that I received. I am sailing April 27 and received the bid to upgrade at about the 60 day mark. Presumed the email was automatically generated and set my expectations low.
